Kang Dong-hun, CEO and Professional Audiologist

I grew up beside my father, who built hearing aids by hand for more than 30 years in Uijeongbu. He was a man who carved and finished each one by hand, tuning the sound unit by unit. The reason he poured in that much care was clear. He knew that a hearing aid has to fit right the first time, and that once it goes wrong, it ends up in a drawer.

I have been studying this problem for 15 years now. The work is to take the standard my father upheld with his own hands and move it into a system where it turns out right the first time, no matter who does the fitting, when, or at which center. And so that a well-fitted sound stays that way to the end, we tied everything together, from precise fitting to follow-up care.

But the market was a little different. High sales alone had long been taken as proof of skill, while what should matter most, how well the customer actually hears, how life changes after fitting, and whether that change lasts, was easily pushed aside.

A hearing aid is not finished at the moment of sale. It is finished through careful assessment, precise fitting, and follow-through to the very end. We believe that is the baseline, the standard it ought to meet. We started with the thought that at least one place should work this way. From the first consultation and hearing assessment to adaptation checks after fitting, real-ear measurement, and regular follow-up care, we built a 12-step standard protocol and an 8-point nationwide free care system so that nothing gets left out.

On top of this, we added AI. We back our fine adjustments with vast amounts of hearing data, and we focus on the hardest challenge of all, making conversation in noise clear. Hearing well in a quiet room is not enough. We consider a fitting truly right only when speech comes through in a noisy restaurant and among a crowd of people.

Finding the sound that fits each person better, and staying close for the long haul so that the sound stays comfortable as time passes. That is the way Hana Hearing wants to hold to. We hope that one day these principles become a matter of course everywhere in Korea. We will keep walking that path, hoping that a day of hearing well reaches more and more people.
